Suzuki Burgman Street 125

The Burgman Street 125 is a popular scooter in India. It is also the second-highest-selling scooter from Suzuki in India. Much of its success is courtesy of its large proportions, maxi-scooter styling, and reliable performance.

For 2026, the Burgman has hit the gym hard and traded its visual bulk for a lean, athletic build. The end result is a much sleeker, sharper, and modern-looking scooter. Apart from its styling, the new Burgman Street 125 has also received updates to its chassis and engine.

Now, we have tested this scooter comprehensively across varied riding conditions, and here are the things that work in its favour, and a few areas that need improvement.

One of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Suzuki Burgman Street is its revised styling. Now, the older Burgman always had a strong road presence thanks to its large and bulky maxi-scooter design. But this new model looks noticeably sleeker and far more cohesive in its appearance.

The front apron looks cleaner with the twin LED headlamps and the neatly integrated indicators, while the curvy side panels flow better into the tail section. That said, the taillight design looks a bit vanilla compared to the older model. Overall, the design now feels more mature and premium. It still retains that unmistakable maxi-scooter stance, but without looking unnecessarily bulky or disproportionate.

And then there’s the overall quality. The plastics feel solid, the switchgear has a nice tactile feel, and the fit-and-finish levels are good for a scooter in this segment.

Another area where the Burgman Street really shines is in the ergonomics department. The seat height is accessible, and the overall rider’s triangle feels very natural and relaxed.

There’s ample space around the floorboard, which offers enough room to move your feet around. The handlebars are placed at an appropriate height, and it doesn’t interfere with your thighs even during a full lock-to-lock turn. Even the seat is wide and long, and it can easily accommodate two large-sized adults. And it is comfortable not only for the rider, but for the pillion as well.

Apart from that, you get two distinct riding positions — you can sit upright for city commutes or stretch your legs forward for a more relaxed riding posture, especially on longer rides. Combined with the wide seat, the Burgman feels like a genuinely comfortable scooter for everyday use.

Powering the Burgman Street is the same tried-and-tested 125cc engine that also does duty on the Access 125, although Suzuki has updated it slightly to extract a bit more torque. Now, outright performance isn’t this scooter’s strongest suit, but the engine feels smooth, refined, and very easy to live with.

It accelerates cleanly, vibrations are well controlled, and the overall riding experience feels quite polished. More importantly, there’s enough performance to comfortably manage both city commutes and occasional highway runs without feeling strained. It’s not exciting, but it gets the job done effortlessly, and that’s exactly what most Burgman buyers would want.

The new Burgman Street is underpinned by a revised chassis that offers 25 per cent more rigidity and lateral stiffness. This, along with the 12-inch wheels and a firmer suspension setup, improves its dynamic ability. The scooter does feel a bit top-heavy, but it changes directions with relative ease and filtering through tight gaps in traffic is effortless.

Now, while the Burgman Street gets a lot of things right, the ride quality could have been better. The suspension setup feels noticeably firm, especially if you are riding solo. It’s not harsh or uncomfortable to the point of being annoying, but you do end up feeling most road imperfections through the seat. Sharp-edged potholes and stepped expansion joints tend to send a slight kickback from the rear suspension as well. That said, the ride quality does improve as speeds increase, and it feels noticeably more settled when riding with a pillion onboard.

That said, the braking performance is adequate for everyday commutes, although I would’ve appreciated a bit more stopping power from the front brake.

As for features, the Suzuki Burgman Street comes fairly well equipped, too. This top-spec variant gets features like a keyless ignition system, a TFT display with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call and SMS alerts. Other features include full-LED lighting and a combined braking system.

The Burgman Street is also a practical scooter. The underseat storage capacity has now increased to 24.6 litres, which means it can easily accommodate groceries, daily luggage, and even a half-face helmet.

You also get a front cubby hole along with a glove box that houses a charging port, which is quite useful to charge your phone on the go.

The new Burgman Street is quite fuel-efficient, and it easily returns a mileage in excess of 50kmpl in mixed riding conditions. In BikeWale’s city test, the Burgman delivered a mileage of 58.34kmpl. This translates into a real-world range of over 300km on a full tank. In mixed riding conditions, with a heavy throttle, it still delivered a fuel economy in excess of 50kmpl. This makes it quite economical to run on a daily basis.

The 2026 Suzuki Burgman Street 125 builds on its core strengths. It offers comfortable ergonomics, practicality, and proven performance. And the updated styling looks more cohesive and contemporary. That said, the Burgman Street isn’t without flaws. The ride quality feels firm over broken roads, while the pricing does place it at the expensive end of the spectrum.

At nearly Rs. 1.38 lakh on-road for the top-spec variant, the Burgman Street 125 is undeniably expensive for a 125cc scooter. Yes, there really isn’t another scooter in the market that offers this exact combination of maxi-scooter styling, comfortable ergonomics, and practicality at this price point. But, if you purely look at it from a value perspective, several other 125cc scooters are substantially more affordable while offering better performance and features.

But despite these shortcomings, the Suzuki Burgman Street still manages to stand out in the 125cc space.
