I bought a new Himalayan September 2018 and I covered meanwhile 47300 km on it, all on European roads and most km's where run on motorways. Characteristics for the Himalayan are its comfortable riding position, excellent suspension, robustness, long stroke engine and relative good economy. The latter because of cumulative average mileage of 35 km/l over 47000 km and modest costs of service and maintenance. Covering 1000km on a single day is few effort on a Himalayan. It is great fun to keep up with my friends driving much faster bikes as ducati monster, bmw gs1200, bmw r-nine-t, moto guzzi breva and yamaha tdm 900 on curvy and twisty roads as long as there are no long straight sections in it.This is the benefit of the best suspension in royal Enfield line-up and the rev-happy engine that has reasonable low torque and excellent mid range torque. What went wrong or might be improved? Broken chain at km 27000 Switch gear/ starting relays problem starting @ km 30000, just recently solved under guarantee. It is however easy to bypass the switch with a cable from the live wire to the external terminal of the start motor. With that cable you can always start. Rapid wear of the motor-side sprocket (@ 16000 km it is nearly worn, despite frequent re-lubes). I think that it would make sense to frequently turn this sprocket E.G. Every 2000 km to get a gradual wear with the pulse wise loads of the single. Alternatively a 2nd front sprocket at hand could balance chain and sprocket life better. Difficulty is to get the m20 nut of the sprocket loose with hand tools. The Honda sprocket fixation with to parallel bolts is much more convenient. Rising fuel consumption for the last 3000 km. For this I suspect the brakes, especially the sliders of the calipers. Would I recommend it. yes, for sure, basically it is a rock solid motorbike and good value for money.

    1. Buying experience -Was not so good as royal enfield is highly on demand showroom people sees customer as nothing.2.Riding experience -Is awesome design of himalayan is awesome because of height and wait this bike run like pro.3.Details about looks, performance etc.- i love the look of himalayan well looks depend on person to person choice.Performance is quit dicey as average is only 25km/pl and the worst part is oil leakage from engine.4.Servicing and maintenance-It's ok not so expensive and easy at any authorised service centre 5.Pros and cons-Pros- great design, superb chassis, powerful engine.Cons- cheap part used in Indian models the same himalayan in australia or in colombia have better parts and less problems. So regular oil leak and other small problems every other day In my opinion if you like sports bike or cruiser bike then don't go for it but if you like scrambler or tall bikes then go for this.

It is nice bike and whenever you ride or wherever you ride comfort level is awesome. It's braking system is very good even on mountain slippery road. Also sound and look wise Himalayan is always a eye capturing beauty. People love to see this bike with nice height. It's weight is massive as I have to carry that bike to side once as due to pressure on bike tire, it's tire get jammed once and whole bike stand in the middle of traffic. Thank god that people are there to help me out because in such case you can't tow the bike to one side by yourself.

So i recently sold out my himalayan after using it for more than 3 yrs and some 50000 kms and easily i can say i just loved it. People talk about reliability but i have done some of the toughest terrains in India and all of them solo maximum issue i had was few flat tyres only thing i didn't like about himalayan was its speeds at highway it get saturated pretty easily. Now as i m looking to upgrade to a bigger machine (which i have already booked), but once in a while my heart goes back to himalayan i almost cancel the booking to rebuy a himalayan.
