  • Royal enfield quality & service

    Rajesh

I am an existing customer of royal enfield, i had purchased re classic 350 gun metal grey on 27th oct 2017. Purchased from electronic city motors. I was very happy that i had purchased a premium bike in to my collection. But the same happiness did not last long. Bcoz here starts the problems with the bike one after the other.1). Mileage – from the second service i was been informing your service team that, the bikes mileage is very less (26km/lt). But this is still not yet solved.2). Breaking – as i thought that the disk brakes are better than the normal drum brakes. But here in this models rear disk brakes works as worst than my old hercules cycle. So, even this was been informed to your great service team. But, they are least bothered and did not solve braking issue. I have missed near to death situation on highway. The problem remains the same.3). Vibration- which is another major problem, which made my fingers numb and many a times i have stopped to stretch my body and fingers. Somewhere between 60 to 80km, vibration was minimal but not vibration free. Above 80-90km the whole bike starts vibrating. When i go outing with my friends i should ride my bike like a luna. Or else i should take rest for 2 days to become normal. Even this was not solved by your service team.4). Clutch & gear- the very first time i would have not completed 900km, the clutch cable got cut and i had to tow the vehicle almost 5.5kms bcoz it happened in the night around 9:00 p:m. Is this the quality of re spares? After second service the gear shifting became harder and the service team says the complete clutch assembly has to be changed. Then got the entire assembly changed but, again in the fifth service the same issue. Then again they asked to change the clutch assembly. This happens every now and then. Never expected such kind of quality or service from re. 5). Sound – some kind of weird noise in the engine every time you ride the bike.6). Chain – as per your service adviser i use to lubricate the chain once in every 300kms. As per the instruction i had purchased the re chain lubricant and re chain cleaner and use to apply but not even 10000kms the chain is having some problem where your mechanics are unable to repair it and advice me to change the entire chain set. So from where should i get the money? for heaven’s sake this is total waste of time and money for a premium brand that i purchased.7). Paint (colour) – this is the main and very important thing that i was forced to buy this re classic 350 gun metal grey. It was not even 4 months that i started noticing that the paint started peeling off from the front mudguard, fuel tank, toolbox, battery box, head light dome, back mudguard, h/l casing. Each time i visit to the showroom, i have been intimating the service manager. Have got no response for these issues. They keep saying that it will be covered under warranty but did not change. They use to keep my bike for more than 10 to 12 days and every time when i complain against the paint peel off. on 27.03.2019 i had been told to hand over the vehicle to the service center and whenever i call up the status of my bike, he would have told that he will call and inform about the status but no call or no message. Every time i should keep calling the manager of ec service centre. And finally on 11.04.2018 i was told that they will only change the fuel tank. Then i got the bike on 12.04.2019.So now i would like to ask the concerned people that are the warranty which was told while buying the bike is just to sell the bike are is it true. And also if it is true is the quality up to the mark or is it just to make money. If in case it is really worth to the name or the status of the company why this type of small and silly things takes place. So, whom we need to address and contact.8). Lock – the main lock cap is also a problem, it quality is so bad that while driving the bike it has fallen somewhere.

  • Rear disc issues

    Pranay

I bought classic 350(gunmetal grey) recently. I am facing an issue with the bike from last week. Problem is with the rear disc. It gets jam suddenly while riding and bike don't move. I went to service center and got to know that this is a common problem in all gunmetal grey variants(may be a manufacturing defect). I also saw various comments in the forums regarding the issue. I am waiting for a solution to this problem. But i am completely disappointed with the service and design by royal enfield.

    Praveen

Great bike, awesome colour. Disc brakes given to both tyres. New swing arm( borrowed from thunderbird). Rider don't feel weight of the bike while riding....it has great balance....mileage in city roads and traffic, it gives 38kmpl...on highways I got around..42-48kmpl. Gives huge vibrations above 100kmh, so...ride between 60-80kmh.

  • Royal enfield gun metal locked and loaded

    Swaraj

I bought this beast in October.

After having driven avenger for about 2 years, i was thinking this time to fulfil my long pending dream of owning a "enfield" but after going through "n" number of bikes online mostly on bikewale i was confused between two final choices "royal enfield gun metal grey" and "renegade commando". I have asked for commando test drive from their local showroom and i personally felt the build quality is fabulous on first look but once you take a closer look and have that attention to detail the quality of plastic used on commando helped me make a no blinder choice "royal enfield".

So i visited their showroom which was about 1.5 kms from my place, there i saw this bad boy for the first time in all metal and oil. That was love at first sight for me. I have took the beast out side for a ride which was fabulous you feel the sturdiness and the build quality once you lay your eyes on it. Decided to buy it.

I paid for it in full, the showroom guys helped me out running through few of their offers and other emi options which were provided by their affiliates and also they helped with the registration with minimal charges. Over all it was a good and smooth process till i got my permanent reg no.

My office is almost 30 kms from my home initially i was little sceptical about the handling this bike in traffic(slow moving) but to my surprise it takes care of its own weight allowing us a comfortable ride even through tough city traffic thanks to its larger rear wheel base. I went on road trip to coorg which is kashmir for of our south "personally". Few main things that i noticed were amazing road grip, top notch breaking (disc brakes), ergonomic seating allowing rider to settle for a long drive."boy that was one hell of a drive"

Stunning looks the gun metal finish gives it a stand apart look in the crowd well complimented by brownish seat covers, spokes on the wheel are more complementing the bike in the era of alloy wheels.

Last month i took my bike for its first service they charged me for the engine oil as there were no complaints from my end it was just and general check up of the basic components.

    Pros:

Looks, build quality, good buying experience, improved service network

    Cons:

Fair mileage, costlier spare parts, vibration beyond 100kmph.

Back disc problem is not fixing. And this is the problem of all the owners. But the company is not improving it. Another problem with this is that the front shocker also gets spoiled in the bike. But the company is not doing it too well. And if they do not fix this problem then the company should stop making the bike.

  • Wonderful ride

    Arjun.S.J

Bad points first: -very long waiting period about 6 months!. 3 months more and a baby could have got delivered .Lol. Now day's re delivers your baby faster . Within 4 - 5 months. Bike delivered with a small dent on exhaust pipe and a cheap key ring as goodies. I accepted it.Right from the 2nd month i felt the bike rear tyre wobbles, especially during turns at higher speed. Royal enfield's royal engineers never acknowledged it till my all free services expired.I kept on adjusting my driving with bike . Which actually enhanced my driving skills. Royal enfield provide poor quality of spare parts.Beyond 80 kmpl the bike looses its cool & vibrates like hell. 70 - 80 kmpl is the sweet range. You need to maintain the bike more than your wife . Maintenance cost is also high .Mark my words. The body catches rust very easily, the electric cabling work is very very . Very shoddy. Re uses duct tape in pales under headlight to bundle cable! .Can you believe that?!gears are not at all smooth, and will get stuck frequently. The pickup is sluggish post 80kmpl . It's tough.Electric start will off with in an year of your purchase even for the 500cc ones. The problem is the electric startup kit quality that re provides. Its made unnecessarily heavy. Although it didn't mattered much for me. The rear view mirror vibrates along with front fork.Good points:-the bike is an eye candy . Usually you will notice onlookers on road. We Indians(including myself) feel proud about owning one. I don't know why . As i said eye candy if all parts of the bike works fine, the ride is rock stable. But that doesn't happen.Every mechanic in the world can repair your bike. Including yourself. No complex chip controlled stuff at least for classic 350, electra & tb.( for 500 cc ones fuel injection is a challenge). It's a very mechanical bike. All nuts and bolts.Resale value is good. I sold it at rs 70k after 5 yrs. You won't get this kind of return on any other bike. Re is surviving in India because of zero competition in this segment. Just wait till some other company comes up to compete. People are ready to pay more. But still don't get the quality . Re doesn't care about its fan followers expectations.Buy a bullet only if you are passionate about cruising long traffic free distances . Its not at all a city bike. Its not a pick up bike. It's very comfortable to ride and get a mileage of 40-42 in cities . It also have a better quality which gives us a wonderful ride . Overall this bike is wonderful . This bike should surely treated as royal .

    Dheeraj

Enfields are at most time criticised on the brake segment.•this new model has disk brakes on both front and back. That's a huge difference from the old models, and provides a huge confidence to the rider.• better fuel economy. The classic 350 returns about avg 40 kilometres per litre. For a 350 cc motorcycle that's an impressive figure.• vibration. Yes, royal enfield's vibrates. But this can be completely solved. If you change the stock silencer, it'll reduce vibration to a great extent. Also changing the handlebar to a much more heavy one will all together solve the issue. If maintained and serviced properly, your enfield will not vibrate. I can assure you that.• riding comfort in re is the most impressive feature. You can go long distance without discomfort. It has an upright posture. It is a great competition to other motorcycles in the touring segment.

  • If you feed you will own a majestic metal horse

    Gowtham

Having a royal enfield is a real pride. Perfect satisfaction of buying and owning this. As usual rider can feel good comfort but not by co traveller in pillion seat. It suits perfect for long trips without co traveller. And all new colour variant gives a stylish look. Feels like riding on a majestic vehicle. An unexpected puncture and breakdown will piss you off , it will make you to hate this bike a bit because of its tube tires & heavy weight. Better to invest and insure on anywhere anytime service with royal enfield service centre. It will give more reliability with alloy wheels tubeless tires which will cost more. So it is least suggestible. Maintaining this bike needs a great care on tyre air pressure , oil level maintenance. Pros : look , great power , stability , comfort riding, reliable cons : tube tyres, high maintenance costs.

    David

  • My royal beast
