    Style

    great styling as usual,with a little tweaks

    engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

    very powerful engine makes the 190kg bike vibrate like a plastic toy,gives a great pickup even when going uphill with 2 people mounted

    ride quality is good,can be balanced very well at low speeds of 5-10kmph,handling is good but manoeuvring through tense streets might be an issue

  • Desert storm classic 500cc - a painful possession

    5 years ago

    Kuldeep Singh Parihar

    I bought classic desert storm 500cc two years back. It's been extremely high on maintenance and a pain to possess. It's prone to scratches, rust and frequent battery failures leading to on the way stoppages. Completely unreliable bike on isolated routes. And just two days after service costing inr 2,500+ from brawn automobiles gurgaon on 19th aug'18 the bike has stopped unable to restart again. This was not the first time it stopped. Called road side assistance at 13:12pm which responded after 3 hr 30 mins by when i had dragged this bike 8 km back home. Thank god was not in mid of a long tour like it happened last time was on the way to doon. It's maintenance will bleed your pocket to death and test your physical fitness to the core, trust me.

    I would like to explain things in pros and cons

    Cons:

    * very heavy bike

    * greatest con of this bike for me is that i agree with the fact that this bike is available with tork in every gear and any where but due to low bhp and heavy weight it feels very under powered

    * easy rusting of chrome parts because of there low quality

    * if you r i wrong gear it vibrates a lot, even if you take it above 110kph it vibrates the same will happen

    * no proper service centers , knowledge less people works over there whom a excessively rude

    Pros: for me pros of this bike is very less as compare to cons

    * no one can deny with the fact that this bike look beautiful

    * high re-sale value

    * girls would love be a pillion of you

    I am one of the first owners of desert storm bike in kerala. I booked for the bike as it announced and got the bike in the first lot in early 2012. It was my third bullet and being a great bullet fan was very excited to own this 500 cc machine. As far as the build quality the bike rusts very easily. It’s been an issue all this while. Got the bike repainted at-least thrice just because of the rust issue. The bike runs just fine and has a good road presence. It used to turn heads in 2012 but now it’s a very common bike so not much attention seeker. I like the throttle response and power of the machine. Needs a lot of refinement on the build quality part. Seating position and handle position are bad for a six foot tall fellow as you will get a back ache on long rides. But apart from that i will say Stay rugged stay original stay bullet.

    Royal enfield desert storm is one of the most rocking bike. When we bought it the bike was just launched.It have the best looks,the signature sound of bullet is not up to mark but still. The worst part of it is the mileage. It consumes a lot of fuel. Apart from it,the servicing is at its best.So in my opinion,if you buy it for leisurely rides,then it will be better rather than using it for daily use.

    Fahim Shad

    At first ride the bike feels powerful. But just a week or so later the bike has jerks , initial throttle missing and loose body parts . It cannot be cornered easily , scrapes of brake pedal and foot pegs. Talking services, most services cost about 500 rupees plus .

    The pros are it looks beefy , higher displacement vehicle for such low price , customizability ( off showroom).

    The cons are weight distribution, overall weight , handling , loosening of parts , braking. Tire size.

  • Thinking of royal enfield bullet - rs 2 per km is the maintenance cost !!! i am not talking about fuel

    6 years ago

    Bharathraj

    I have been using this bullet for the past 2 years for my daily commute to office and about 25 km per day is my average usage. I agree that the riding comfort and looks of the bullet is awesome but the quality of the bullet is terrible. I had to take the bullet to service center once in every 2 months, so fay in the last 2 years i have drove my bullet for about 27000 km and have serviced more than 15 times at a cost of rs 35000 to rs 40000 so far, please don't get deceived by looks!!!

    Cons:

    * very heavy bike

    * high re-sale value

Tire size.

    Bharathraj

    I have been using this bullet for the past 2 years for my daily commute to office and about 25 km per day is my average usage. I agree that the riding comfort and looks of the bullet is awesome but the quality of the bullet is terrible. I had to take the bullet to service center once in every 2 months, so fay in the last 2 years i have drove my bullet for about 27000 km and have serviced more than 15 times at a cost of rs 35000 to rs 40000 so far, please don't get deceived by looks!!!

    very powerful engine makes the 190kg bike vibrate like a plastic toy,gives a great pickup even when going uphill with 2 people mounted

    ride quality & handling

    ride quality is good,can be balanced very well at low speeds of 5-10kmph,handling is good but manoeuvring through tense streets might be an issue

    great styling,great paintjob,very powerful engine and less weight compared to older versions make it the best royal enfield

    style is based on a vintage desgin so nothing much to expect here. Albeit the color is catchy

    engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox

    very powerfull engine gives you a zooming pick up. Its got a fair fuel economy considering its power but the gear box may need some improvement.

    Ride quality & handling

    handling is bit of a nuisance as well as comfort.

    buy it if your looking for a bike that has a vintage appeal with a modern engine.
