Yamaha XSR155 has gone on sale at an introductory price of Rs. 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The most compact member of Yamaha’s modern-retro family, XSR155 mixes classic looks with MT-15 underpinnings. The round LED headlamp, teardrop tank, and simple LCD console set the tone, while the upright stance keeps it friendly for daily use. This is a measured update to the 150–160cc scene with a balance of style and hardware.
Power comes from the 155cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve single with Variable Valve Actuation. It produces 18.1bhp and 14.2Nm paired to a six-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch. This set-up is known for smooth low-end drive and a clean top-end pull, so city gaps and short highway runs should be easy. Dual-channel ABS and traction control are standard.

The chassis leans on Yamaha’s Deltabox frame, supported by upside-down front forks and a linked-type monoshock. An aluminium swingarm keeps weight in check and helps the bike feel tight when you change direction. Seventeen-inch wheels and a neutral riding triangle aim to make the XSR155 accessible to new riders while still being engaging for experienced owners.
Yamaha offers four paint options: Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue, and two official accessory packs. The Scrambler pack adds a taller stance and mild-trail cues, while the Café Racer pack brings a sportier seat and styling touches. Both give owners a quick way to personalise the bike without hunting for aftermarket parts.
The XSR155 targets riders who want retro appeal without the size and weight of bigger singles. It will inevitably be cross-shopped with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 for its look and price proximity, but the Yamaha fights back with lighter mass, higher-rev character, and richer electronics.
