- XSR 155 will rival the Hunter 350
- Based on the Yamaha R15 V4 platform
- Yamaha Nmax 155 is based on the Aerox
Yamaha is expected to launch the XSR 155 and the Nmax 155 in India today. Both models have already created quite a buzz among enthusiasts, especially after the XSR 155 was spied testing on Indian roads recently.
Meanwhile, Yamaha showcased the Nmax 155 premium maxi-scooter at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. With new rivals like the Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 150 entering the premium sporty scooter segment, Yamaha seems poised to strengthen its game in the 150-160cc scooter space.

Interestingly, Yamaha already produces the Aerox 155 and R15 in India, both of which share their platforms with the upcoming XSR 155 and Nmax 155. This means localisation shouldn’t be a major challenge for the brand. And given how the Indian market has evolved, with growing demand for premium and lifestyle-focused two-wheelers, the timing for these launches couldn’t be better.
Both two-wheelers are powered by the R15-derived 155cc, liquid-cooled motor. This engine makes 18.1bhp and 14Nm of peak torque on the XSR 155, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, the same motor produces 14.9bhp and 14.4Nm, and comes paired with a CVT automatic.
