Yamaha FZ 25 and FZS 25 to be launched soon

- Unofficial bookings opened in March 2020

- To be available in two variants – FZ 25 and FZS 25

- Feature revised styling and updated hardware

Yamaha Motor India has confirmed via its social media accounts that it will launch the new FZ 25 and the FZS 25 very soon. The company did not mention the exact launch date for its updated, BS6 compliant quarter-litre models, although the vehicles should arrive once the 21-day lockdown in the country is over. Expect the new models to carry a premium of about Rs 5,000-7,000 over the old version that was sold at Rs 1,34,680 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Several Yamaha dealers had started accepting bookings for the new FZ 25 and the FZS 25 BS6 in March this year. The latest iteration of the quarter-litre motorcycle will be available in two variants – FZ 25 and the FZS 25. Both models will feature identical cycle parts, engine and design. Thus, standard equipment on both variants will include a redesigned front fascia, sharper bikini fairing, a LED headlight with LED DRL and a negative LCD instrument cluster.

The S version, however, will be distinguished by knuckle guards and a taller windscreen. The two models are further distinguished by the colour options. The FZ 25 will be sold in two colours – Racing Blue and Metallic Black – while the FZS 25 will be available in three paint options – Dark Matte Blue, Dark Cyan and Metallic White. The Dark Blue and the Dark Cyan paint options on the FZS 25 will come equipped with gold-coloured alloy wheels.

Mechanical specifications on both motorcycles will include an updated, BS6-compliant 249 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that will produce 20.5bhp of power and 20.1Nm of torque. Cycle parts on the updated model will include telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock and disc brakes on both wheels. The safety net will include dual-channel ABS and side stand engine cut off function.

In other updates, Yamaha Motor India has confirmed that it has discontinued three models – Fazer 25, previous-generation YZF-R3 and the Saluto series from our market.
