Vietnamese EV manufacturer Vinfast, which recently introduced its VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs in India, is now preparing to enter the country’s fast-growing electric scooter segment.
The company says it plans to launch its first electric scooters here in 2026. A feasibility study is already underway to understand which models from its global lineup can be adapted for local usage.
Vinfast currently sells a number of electric scooter models internationally, including the Feliz, Klara Neo, Evo Grand, Vero X, Vento S, and Theon S. These scooters have either side-mounted or hub-mounted motors, capable of propelling them to speeds of between 60-99kmph. Battery ranges also differ from model to model, going up to a claimed range of around 160km. Do note that these specifications are for the Vietnamese market.

A few of these are likely being evaluated for India, where the brand is evaluating the scooter’s suitability for everyday commuting, ability to tackle varying road conditions, and durability of the powertrain under India’s climatic conditions.
The final product selection will be based on performance testing and regulatory approvals. The launch is expected towards late 2026, possibly timed around the festive season.
The segment is currently dominated by names like TVS, Ather Energy, Bajaj Auto’s Chetak, and Hero MotoCorp’s Vida.
The challenges for Vinfast in India with regards to two-wheelers, going forward, include getting their pricing strategy right, improving their scale of localisation, and the strength of the charging and after-sales network.
