Vespa Primavera 180 and Sprint 180 Launched Globally

Piaggio has taken the wraps off the new 180cc versions of its popular scooters, the Vespa Primavera 180 and the Vespa Sprint 180. These models have been launched in Indonesia and are expected to replace the existing 150cc variants in select markets.

The new Primavera and Sprint 180 continue to use a single-cylinder engine from Vespa’s global lineup, albeit in a higher state of tune. The motor now produces 14.7bhp at 8,250rpm and a peak torque of 13.5Nm at 6,500rpm. Compared to the 150cc models, the new 180cc scooters deliver roughly 2.5bhp more power and a slight increase in torque, while the gains over the 125cc variants are even more substantial.

The new 180cc models are positioned at the top of the Primavera and Sprint range in Indonesia. However, it remains to be seen whether Vespa will replace the 150cc models entirely or sell the 180cc versions alongside the existing lineup in global markets.

This development comes shortly after Vespa updated the Primavera and Sprint S range at the EICMA last year. As part of the 2026 update, the scooters have received a series of technical and functional upgrades.

The most notable change is the introduction of a 220mm rear disc brake, replacing the traditional drum setup. This new unit is paired with a twin-piston calliper, promising improved braking performance. The updated lineup continues to be offered in 50cc, 125cc, and 150cc engine options as well.

While the 180cc variants have currently been revealed only in Indonesia, their launch in other markets remains uncertain. If introduced in India, the Primavera 180 and Sprint 180 could offer a more performance-oriented alternative within Vespa’s otherwise lifestyle-focused portfolio.
