- Inspired by Officina 8, Piaggio’s experimental department
- Available at select dealerships in a single colour
- Comes with a matching helmet as standard
Piaggio has launched the new Vespa Officina 8 special-edition scooter with a price tag of Rs. 1.34 Lakh, ex-showroom, Maharashtra. It is available at select Vespa dealerships across India in a single colour option called matte metallic Blue Officina 8. A matching helmet is also available with the scooter as standard.
This special edition model gets its name from Officina 8, the experimental department at Piaggio's plant in Pontedera, Italy. It was established in 1944 as a dedicated workshop to carry out experiments, develop new concepts, and test prototypes. It is also used for rigorously testing components in varying conditions to ensure they meet the quality standards set by the brand. It was at this department that the Vespa took birth with innovative elements such as a step-through steel frame, two-stroke engine, direct-drive transmission, and handlebar-mounted gear control.

The unique colour of the Vespa Officina 8 scooter takes inspiration from the tools, machinery, and outfits of people working at the experimental workshop. It also features metallic rivets along with brass and aluminium tones on its bodywork to add some flair to its aesthetics. To make it even more special, Piaggio has introduced a range of matching accessories and merchandise, which are available for an additional cost. These are things like top box, windbreakers, hoodies, T-shirts, backpacks, and key chains.
The Vespa Officina 8 is available in 125cc and 150cc iterations, with the engine being identical to their respective standard counterparts. The buyers of the scooter will also get a welcome kit comprising an owner’s book covering the history and philosophy of the Officina 8 department.
