Vespa has announced that the 946 Emporio Armani edition and a special 70th Anniversary Edition scooter is going to be launched in India on October 25.
Launched in 2013, the Vespa 946 represents the ultimate evolution of the iconic brand. The flagship model in Vespa's global line-up, the 946 is pegged as more of style statement than an everyday ride. While the standard 946 in itself is a very swanky scooter, this specific model has been customised by Emporio Armani which makes it a commodity affordable only to the uber rich. It is powered by a 125cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine which delivers 12bhp and 10Nm of torque.
Apart from the 946 Emporio Armani, Vespa will also be launching a special edition scooter as a celebration of the Italian marque’s 70th anniversary. Featuring special edition badges and unique paint scheme, this model is expected to be rolled out in limited numbers.
The Vespa 946 would be imported to India as completely built units, which means it will attract heavy custom duties. With an astronomical price tag of around Rs 8 lakh, it goes without saying that the Vespa 946 would be one of the most exclusive scooters that you can buy in India. The 70th anniversary limited edition scooter on the other hand is expected to sport a relatively sensible price tag between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000.
