Upcoming KTM Adventure With Twin-Cylinder Engine Spotted Testing Abroad
    • Could replace the 690 single-cylinder engine platform
    • Could produce 60-70bhp
    • Expected launch in 2027

An upcoming KTM Adventure test mule was spotted abroad, and judging by the spy shots, it is expected to replace the 690 single-cylinder engine platform. An upcoming KTM Duke was spotted testing with the same engine recently, and here’s everything we know:

The new engine platform is likely being developed by KTM Austria, before Bajaj Auto took ownership of KTM. This also means that it isn’t the upcoming sub-500cc parallel-twin engine being developed for India. The test mule looks like it is in the early stages of development, with minimal bodywork similar to the Duke spotted testing earlier.

The bike features longer travel WP suspension at both ends and WP brake calipers. The engine and exhaust setup look similar to the one on the upcoming Duke. According to our sources, this engine could be the bridge between the brand’s 390 and 790 lineup. It is likely to produce around 60-70bhp, if not more.

Replacing the 690 single-cylinder platform with a new twin-cylinder engine makes sense. This is because single-cylinder motors are having trouble complying with ever-tightening emission norms. The refinement of the twin could also elevate the riding experience.

Information about this upcoming engine platform is limited. KTM is expected to introduce the new platform by 2027 across multiple models, including the Duke, Adventure, and RC range. It could go up against other middleweight motorcycle lineups like the Triumph 660s, Kawasaki Ninja 650, and Versys 650.
