TVS has updated its commuter offering, the Victor with SBT (Synchronised braking technology) in India. Resultantly, the motorcycle has received a minimal price hike of Rs 640 over the non-SBT model. Available in three variants, the TVS Victor Drum brake model now costs Rs 54,682 while the Disc and Premium trims retail at Rs 56,682 and Rs 57,682, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
Synchronized braking technology is TVS’ version of CBS (combi braking system) which, after applying the rear brake, automatically engages the front and rear brakes simultaneously. This reduces the braking distance of the motorcycle. After the addition of SBT, the TVS Victor now adheres to the new safety norm which mandates CBS in motorcycles below 125cc engine. The new norm is operational from 1 April 2019. Apart from the braking setup update, the motorcycle remains the same.
The TVS Victor is powered by a 109.7cc, three-valve, oil-cooled engine which churns out 9.46bhp at 7,500rpm and 9.4Nm at 6,000rpm. This motor comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks on the front and dual hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. As for braking, the base variant incorporates drum brakes on both the ends while the Disc and Premium trim incorporate a disc on the front. In terms of feature, the motorcycle gets LED DRLs while the Premium edition comes equipped with additional elements such as chrome side cover, chrome crash guard, golden case engine cover and dual tone seat.
In its segment, the TVS Victor competes against the Honda Dream series, Hero Passion XPro and Mahindra Centuro.
