Triumph unveils four new Tiger 800s at EICMA 2014

Triumph Motorcycles is doing some good business here in India and looks like they want to cash in on each and every opportunity in India as well as in other global markets. And today, at the ongoing EICMA motorcycle show, the British manufacturer has unveiled four new Tiger 800s – the XR, XC, XRx and XCx.

Triumph Motorcycles says that the four new adventure motorcycles under the Tiger brand is meant for different purposes. The Tiger 800 XR is more focussed on the world of road riding whereas the Tiger 800 XC has a more off-road intent. Both models have high levels of standard equipment in a range that now includes range topping ‘x’ models. The XRx and XCx bring more technology to the segment offering equipment designed to match their purpose.

All the new Tiger 800s now sports standard traction control system, switchable ABS, ride by wire technology for smooth power delivery and lighter throttle response. The XRx and the XCx gets cruise control which the company claims is first in the segment. It also gets three riding modes to control throttle maps – road setting (automatically sets the ABS, traction control and throttle map to “road”), off- road setting (automatically sets the ABS, Traction Control, and Throttle Map to “OFF-ROAD” therefore reducing the ABS and traction control intervention allowing for a level of slip) and programmable rider mode (fully configurable mode).

The 2015 Tiger 800s retains the same 800cc triple cylinder engine that produces 95bhp at 9,300rpm and maximum torque of 79Nm at 7,850rpm. However, this engine has been tweaked to produce lower emissions and deliver 17 per cent increase in fuel efficiency.

Triumph Motorcycles currently sells the Tiger 800XC and the Tiger Explorer in India and we won’t’ be surprised if we see all the four new Tiger 800s entering the Indian market early next year. And talking about the pricing, we can expect these bikes to be slightly expensive than the current models.
