Triumph Tracker 400: Top 5 Highlights

Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its 400 range with the introduction of the Tracker 400, a flat-track-inspired motorcycle that adds a fresh flavour to Triumph’s entry-level lineup. Here’s a quick look at the top five highlights of the bike.

    Tracker Styling

The Triumph Tracker 400 stands out with its distinctive flat-track-inspired design. It gets a stripped-back look with a minimalist tail section, round LED headlamp with a stubby visor, and a wide and a low handlebar that lends it a purposeful stance.

The design draws heavily from flat-track bikes with elements such as a number-board-style side panel and a compact fuel tank. The sub-frame is borrowed from the Thruxton 400, while the twin-barrel exhaust is from the Scrambler 400.

    Downsized Powertrain

While globally the Tracker 400 uses a 398cc engine, the India-spec version is powered by new 350cc motor. This move aligns with Triumph’s strategy to make the bike more accessible, benefiting from the lower taxation. The motor runs the Thruxton’s state of tune and produces 39.5bhp and 32Nm of peak torque.

    Premium Mechanicals

The Triumph Tracker 400 is underpinned by the same platform as the Speed 400, but gets a few tweaks. It uses a tubular steel frame, suspended by upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.

    Colours

The Tracker 400 is offered in three colours - Aluminium Silver, Racing Yellow, and Phantom Black. The Racing Yellow is the more youthful and vibrant colour option, while the other two offer an understated elegance.

    Price and Competition

The Tracker 400 has been launched in India at Rs. 2.46 lakh (ex-showroom). It goes up against the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.

Overall, the Tracker 400 brings a fresh design direction to Triumph’s entry-level lineup while retaining the brand’s signature premium appeal.
