The new Triumph Scrambler 400 XC has just gone on sale in India. It sits above the Scrambler 400X in the product portfolio and here is all that’s new.
New Bodywork and Colours
The Scrambler 400 XC is available in bold new colours. These are called Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White. These colours look quite attractive, especially with the block-pattern style racing stripes. In fact, the colour of the fuel tank, beak, and the flyscreen atop the headlight is the same and adds to the road-presence of the bike.

Tubeless Wire-spoke Wheels
Triumph has introduced new, tubeless wire-spoke wheels, giving the bike the ‘Scrambler’ appearance in the true sense. It is also good to see that the company chose to go with tubeless wire-spoke rims as it saves one the hassle of dealing with punctures, if this were a tube-type setup.
Higher Price Tag
Considering the tubeless alloy wheels and new colours on offer, Triumph has positioned the bike as a more premium offering than the 400X. Hence, it costs Rs. 28,000 more than the X. While this figure may seem steep, let's not forget that tubeless spoke wheels are expensive.

What Hasn’t Changed
Barring the above-mentioned changes, the Scrambler 400 XC is the same as the X. It is powered by the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. In terms of features, the bike gets switchable ABS, traction control, and a slip and assist clutch.
