Top 6 motorcycle updates for 2017

New Year means a bunch of resolutions. Whatever your resolution is, it will be aimed at trying to do at least one thing better than what you did this year. Same is the case with bike makers. They all want their motorcycles to better and updated and unlike us, they do not forget their resolutions that easily. So here is a list of motorcycles that we think will add ammunition to their arsenal in 2017.

1. Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

The 200NS was Bajaj’s first thoroughbred performer. It had the right ingredients and was immediately a success. But with Bajaj wanting to move to the AS, the NS200 was sidelined. The streetfighter is back in contention for 2017 and we think it might come loaded with fuel injection and ABS.

2. TVS Apache RTR 200 FI ABS

After years of rumours about the RTR 200, 2016 saw the most powerful RTR break cover. The motorcycle packs a punch and gets Pirelli tyres as an option. The RTR is all set to get fuel-injection and ABS in the year 2017 and then you can pick and choose between the fuelling, braking and tyre options. Whatever you do, make sure you get ABS because – safety first!

3. Mahindra Mojo ABS

The Mahindra Mojo is a no-fuss mile muncher of a motorcycle. But with the Dominar coming in at that super-aggressive pricing, the Mojo has to realign itself to be competent. First in the line of changes is ABS. Also, the Mojo might let go its upside-down front forks for the conventional telescopic ones to keep the costs at bay.

4. UM Renegade Classic

The UM Renegade is the quintessential retro-cruiser. In 2017, you will have the option of buying the Renegade Classic with heavy doses of chrome to take it further back in time. Mechanically, there will not be any changes and we think, you might also get a bunch of spares to convert your existing Renegade into a Classic.

5. Yamaha YZF R15 V3.0

Well, this one is not an upgrade for your Yamaha keyboard. The Yamaha R15 is the smallest focussed sport bike you can buy and the 3.0 is the third iteration of the R15. It gets new R3 like face, USD forks, LED headlamps, M-Slaz like tail lamp and pillion seat not as uncomfortable as the V2.0. We will have to wait till mid-2017 at least to get hands on one though.

6. Suzuki Gixxer FI

The Suzuki Gixxer has turned out to be the only challenger to the Yamaha FZ in the urban streetfighter arena. The Gixxer is set to get fuel injection and will now compete with the FZ spec-by-spec. You can also expect a new paint scheme with the FI and the launch can be expected in the first half of 2017.
