Titan India launches Fastrack helmets

Titan India, the makers of watches, eyewear, and bags has ventured into the helmets segment. The company will sell a range of helmets under its Fastrack brand in the Rs 400-crore organised industry. The company has priced these helmets between Rs 1,495 and Rs 3,495.

Titan India has tied up with the Italian helmet manufacturing company AGV. The helmets will be manufactured in India by AGV, whereas the design and the marketing will be handled by Titan.

"India has one of the highest numbers of two-wheelers in the world. With unorganised players currently driving the helmet business, the category has a large potential in the market. The organised helmet market is estimated at approximately Rs 400 crore, accounting for 45% of the retail market. Using our in-house design and marketing expertise and wide retail footprint we took a step to enter the helmets sector. The category is currently largely unorganized and under-served and with our superior quality product, we aim to ensure safety and comfort for two-wheeler riders," said Bhaskar Bhat, MD, Titan Company Limited.

"We are getting the helmets manufactured in India, we have tied up with an Italian company called AGV, one of the largest helmets manufactures in the world. We are tied up to make our helmets to our design and we control marketing, we control design and safety standards," said Ronnie Talati, vice president and CMO, watches and accessories, Titan Company Limited.
