- Design patented in 2024
- Identical factory custom version was unveiled at MotoSoul
- No confirmation on its development and launch plans
TVS Motor Company patented the design of a café racer version of the Ronin back in 2024. Pictures of the design patent have started surfacing online now, reminding us that a factory custom Ronin with the same café racer look was also unveiled by the brand at the MotoSoul 2024.

While the patent doesn’t confirm the development of such a motorcycle being underway, we believe TVS should introduce it to spice up its portfolio. The motorcycle directly competes against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, which outsells the Ronin by a huge margin. Now, since café racer is already a popular genre in India and has a cult of its own, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 being the prime example, a café racer version of the Ronin will certainly help TVS grab a bigger chunk of the entry-level, neo-retro roadster space.
TVS has consistently experimented with the Ronin by lending it a variety of factory custom flavours. The café racer, in particular, seems like a very tastefully executed iteration of the bike. The changes over the standard Ronin include the incorporation of low-set clip-on handlebars, a tighter rake angle, and rear-set foot pegs. The fuel tank adjoins a Monza-style fairing with a large windscreen. The single-piece rider’s seat is finished in blue, and it is accompanied by a rear cowl in place of the pillion seat. Even the exhaust end can looks like a smaller, seemingly freer-flowing unit.
Powering the Ronin is a 225.9cc BS6 engine, which develops 20.1bhp and 19.93Nm. This engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox and is known for its tractable and peppy nature, which makes it suitable for brisk city riding.
