- GSX-8T and GSX-8TT in pipeline
- Certification document leaked
- Official debut expected at EICMA
Suzuki might be working on a new touring motorcycle based on the GSX-8R sportbike, as per a leaked certificate document overseas. The document mentions two models, namely GSX-8T and GSX-8TT, which will most likely be two variants of the same motorcycle.
Besides the names of the bikes, the only other information deciphered from the certification is that they’ll produce 81.8bhp and 78Nm, which is the same as the GSX-8R. So, it’s clear that the GSX-8T will be powered by the same 776cc, twin-cylinder motor, which also does duty on the GSX-8S and the V-Strom 800. However, the gearing and fueling might be slightly different and specific to the GSX-8T’s intended purpose.
Talking about its purpose, in all likelihood, the GSX-8T will be a sports tourer, as the name suggests. Similar to bikes like the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and the Yamaha Tracer 900, it will have a tall ADV-like stance while running on road-biased, 17-inch alloy wheel setup. These bikes are meant to offer the same performance as their sports and naked versions but with higher levels of seating comfort, which makes them suitable for mile-munching. Expect it to take some design inspiration from the GSX-S1000GX, which is Suzuki’s existing litre-class touring bike. Also, TT might be the higher-spec with more features and better equipment.
The Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are expected to make their public debut at the EICMA show in Milan in November this year. Now, it remains to be seen whether Suzuki will bring these bikes to India.
