    • Burgman 150 revealed in Colombia
    • Gets switchable traction control
    • India launch unlikely

After launching the new generation Burgman Street 125 in India, Suzuki recently introduced the new Burgman 150 in Colombia. It carries most of the ethos of the Burgman family, including an imposing design, evidently roomy ergonomics, and an impressive amount of features.

Christened the Burgman 150, it is a major departure from the Burgman Street 125. It looks bigger with a wider front apron featuring a dramatic amalgamation of projector LED, DRLs, and turn indicators. Typical of big maxi scooters, there is a centre spine which is flanked by sloping and flat footrest provisions. Complementing its design are modern features such as a TFT screen with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, keyless ignition, dual-channel ABS, and a switchable traction control system.

Powering the Burgman 150 is a 149cc, air-cooled engine which develops 14.2 bhp at 8,500 rpm, and a peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The hardware package comprises 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends with telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. Seat height stands at 760 mm, kerb weight is 145 kg, and it has an 8-litre fuel tank. For storage, there is a 25-litre underseat provision with a USB-C charging port.

While the chances of the Suzuki Burgman 150 coming to India are slim, it would be a great move if the company can price it right. It will build on the trust already established by the Burgman Street 125 and will be a competent rival to the likes of the Hero Xoom 160, TVS Ntorq 150, and Yamaha Aerox 155.
