- Scram 440 sales, bookings put on hold
- Issue with bike starting
- Being fixed at SVC, factory
Royal Enfield has put a temporary pause on the bookings and deliveries of its recently launched Scram 440 in India. The move comes as the company works to address an issue affecting the bike’s ability to start, particularly after prolonged usage.
According to the company, the problem lies in a faulty component that’s now being rectified. However, Royal Enfield has clarified that this is not a safety issue, and there are no reports of stalling — the motorcycle simply struggles to start in certain conditions.
Launched in November 2024, the Scram 440 began reaching customers in January 2025. So far, only around 2 per cent of delivered units have reported this issue. The affected motorcycles are being called back to authorised service centres for a fix. Meanwhile, unsold units at dealerships and inside the factory will be repaired either at the dealership or the factory, depending on their location.
This rectification process is expected to take a few weeks, with bookings likely to resume by June. While the exact number of affected units hasn’t been disclosed, it’s evident that Royal Enfield is moving swiftly to contain the situation and restore customer confidence.
