Royal Enfield has launched a new range of classic-styled helmets that can be now be bought through the company’s official website and other e-commerce portals like Flipkart , Central and Myntra. Available in two designs, the first one is called ‘Street Prime’ and is derived from the popular Street series that is already sold by the brand. The next one is called ‘Drifter’ which takes its inspiration from the timeless street helmets of the ’60s. Both helmets are of full-face type and as per Royal Enfield, offer up-to-date protection and comfort features.
The Street Prime helmet is available in four designs and has been constructed using a fibreglass shell with an EPS internal liners. It gets a micro-metric adjustable quick release chin strap retention system, polycarbonate visor with UV protection. For ventilation, the helmet comes with three intake vents and one exhaust port to allow fresh air inside and channel the hot air out from the rear. The liners are removable, washable and are anti-microbial treated.
On the other hand, the Drifter series offers the same features as the Street Prime, but with a few differences. Firstly, its outer shell has been heat moulded using high-grade ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) material. It comes with six vents, five intake and one exhaust port. Also, unique to this helmet is a wide eye port which provides direct ventilation to the face while increasing the field of vision.
Both helmets feature a 360° hard-wearing rubber gasket around the periphery of helmet’s base. In terms of safety and protection, the helmets are ISI (IS: 4151) and DOT (FMVSS No. 218) certified. On the price front, the Drifter has been priced at Rs 3500 while the Street Prime fetches a slightly higher premium of Rs 3700.
