    • Will be powered by a 443cc, air/oil-cooled motor
    • Expected to be priced around Rs. 2.50 lakh, ex-showroom

Royal Enfield is set to expand its adventure motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of the Himalayan 440 soon. And now, Bikewale has learnt that the upcoming motorcycle is expected to be launched in India in September 2026.

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 will mark the return of a more rugged, highly accessible, and mechanically simpler adventure bike, reviving the ethos of the original Himalayan 411.

The Himalayan 440 is expected to be based on the Royal Enfield Scram 440’s platform and will be powered by the bigger 443cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder LS440 engine. In the Scram 440, this motor produces 25.4bhp and 34Nm and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. While the power and torque figures are likely to remain unchanged, the engine’s strong low-end and mid-range performance should make it well suited for off-road riding and laidback touring.

Unlike the Scram 440, the Himalayan 440 is expected to ride on a 21-inch front wheel, just like the discontinued Himalayan 411. The larger front wheel, combined with its longer-travel suspension, should significantly improve its off-road ability. Moreover, its upright ergonomics and improved wind protection should also make the Himalayan 440 a comfortable touring machine.

While the Himalayan 450 is a well-designed motorcycle, Royal Enfield purists still prefer the industrial and rugged styling of the original Himalayan 411. So, expect the 440 to feature a functional, utilitarian design with a tall stance and adventure-ready bodywork that prioritises functionality over contemporary styling.

Royal Enfield is expected to position the Himalayan 440 below the Himalayan 450, offering buyers a simpler, more affordable adventure touring motorcycle. It is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom), slotting it between the Scram 440 and the more expensive Himalayan 450. At this price point, the Himalayan 440 should appeal to riders looking for accessible performance and enhanced off-road capability without breaking the bank.
