The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has just gone on sale in India. The company has given its best selling nametag, ‘Classic’ to a 650cc platform bike for the first time. Here are its top five highlights.
Timeless design
The Classic 650 is beautifully designed with elegant lines and a nice choice of colours to choose from. The teardrop shaped fuel tank, the way the engine occupies pride of place, those long chrome exhaust pipes and the overall stance make this bike quite the looker.
Tried and tested engine
The 648cc parallel-twin engine is a proven unit and revered for its refinement and mid range pull. It makes 46.3bhp and 52.3Nm but more importantly, it is the way it delivers all that power and torque. It is involving, and not to mention the sweet sound coming off the twin exhaust pipes.
Upright ergonomics
The seating ergonomics of the bike are upright and comfortable. Opting for the single-seat makes the bike look even better, especially with the rear fender on full display.
The hardware
Under the bodywork is a steel frame that has been suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels shod with tube-type tyres, while braking is taken care of by a disc brake at the front and at the rear.
Priced competitively
The bike is launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 3.37 lakh for the base, Hotrod version. The Classic variant is priced at Rs. 3.41 lakh. The top trim is Chrome and as the name suggests, it is available in a Black Chrome colour that looks rather fetching. It will set you back by Rs. 3.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Chennai.
