Ola Roadster X+: Top five highlights

Ola Electric recently launched the Roadster X+ electric motorcycle in the country. The bike is available in two variants, based on the battery size. Here are all the details.

    Functional design

The design of the Ola Roadster X+ blends form and function quite well. The body panels are largely flat with a few creases thrown into the mix. The panels that cover the battery pack are pretty neat. One can also notice that the riding position is quite upright and neutral, serving the commuting purpose well.

    Battery and motor

Ola is offering the Roadster X+ with two battery pack options: 4.5kWh and 9.1kWh. The former offers a range of 252km (IDC claimed), whereas the latter offers a whopping 501km (IDC claimed) on a full charge. While these are claimed figures, expect the real-world figures to be higher than some of the current electric two-wheelers. As for the charging time, the 4.5kWh battery can be charged up to 80 per cent in six hours, while the 9.1kWh battery takes eight hours to charge up to the same level.

Both variants have a mid-drive motor that produces 11kW peak power and can propel the bike to a top speed of 125kmph.

    Chassis

The bike has a double cradle frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, which are preload adjustable. It rides on alloy wheels while braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. This is also the first electric motorcycle in the segment to feature brake-by-wire, which Ola claims helps extend brake pad life as well.

    Features

The bike has a decent set of features, such as all-LED lights, LCD display with connectivity, regenerative braking, cruise control, reverse mode, and three ride modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport).

    Price

The Ola Roadster X+ with the 4.5kWh battery is priced at Rs. 1.04 lakh, while the motorcycle with the 9.1kWh battery will set you back by Rs. 1.54 lakh, ex-showroom. These, however, are introductory prices.
