Norton Atlas GT full specifications revealed

The Norton Atlas GT is all set to be launched in India soon, and in the run-up to the same, the TVS-owned company has released the specifications and features of the production-spec motorcycle.

    The powertrain

Beginning with the engine, the Norton Atlas GT is powered by a 585cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank. It produces 69bhp at 9,300rpm and 57Nm at 7,500rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox that has a bi-directional quickshifter. As for the gearing, there’s a 16-tooth front sprocket and a 47-tooth rear sprocket.

This engine makes more power than its competitors like the Kawasaki Versys 650, but its peak torque is slightly lower than the Japanese motorcycle’s 61Nm figure. That said, the Norton’s 270-degree crank should offer a deeper and more characterful sound.

    The chassis

The Atlas GT has a steel trellis frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. It is suspended by a fully-adjustable, 43mm USD fork with 140mm travel and a monoshock at the rear with adjustable preload adjustment. The suspension is made by KYB.

The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear, and these are shod with tubeless tyres.

Braking, meanwhile, is taken care of by twin 310mm discs on the front wheel with radially mounted ByBre calipers, while at the rear, there’s a 270mm disc.

The Norton Atlas GT is positioned as a road-biased ADV, and in comparison to the Norton Atlas, it gets a smaller wheel at the front, and shorter travel than the 180mm that the Atlas offers. In fact, we have more details of the new Norton Atlas here.
