Norton Motorcycles is gearing up to commence bookings for the Atlas in India soon. While the company is yet to announce an official date, bookings are expected to open in the coming weeks through Norton's official India website (live now) as well as its authorised dealership network across the country.
The Norton Atlas is expected to go on sale in India in the next couple of months. Norton will retail its bikes exclusively through the TVS Paddock premium dealerships, which should also offer service and spare parts support. The British marque is expected to adopt a premium ownership experience in line with its positioning in the market.
The Atlas will be manufactured entirely in India at TVS Motor Company's Hosur facility and is expected to be positioned above the BMW F 450 GS. We expect Norton to price the motorcycle between Rs. 5.50 lakh and Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it in the premium middleweight adventure touring segment.
Powering the Norton Atlas is a new 585cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 69bhp at 9,300rpm and 58Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. The motor features a 270-degree crankshaft, which is expected to deliver a distinctive exhaust note along with strong low- and mid-range performance. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Norton will offer the motorcycle in two variants – Atlas and Atlas GT. The Atlas rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, making it suitable for touring with mild off-road capabilities. Meanwhile, the Atlas GT features 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, giving it a more road-biased character for long-distance highway riding. It will rival the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Triumph Tiger Sport 660.
The company will also introduce the Atlas Apex in India. This range-topping version comes equipped with additional accessories and advanced rider electronics aimed at improving its comfort, convenience, safety, and long-distance capability.
