- Powered by Ducati’s new V2 engine
- Gets a different tail section and swingarm
- Expected to be significantly lighter
Ducati is readying the next-generation model of its off-focused ADV, the DesertX, which was recently spied testing in Europe. The motorcycle seems to have received the new V2 engine, along with a few other changes.
The spy shots clearly give away the presence of Ducati’s new 890cc, V2 engine on the next-generation DesertX, instead of the 937cc, Testastretta motor powering the existing model. The biggest advantage of that will be substantial weight savings, which has been the case with the Multistrada V2 – the new model weighs a staggering 18kg lower than the previous iteration. Accompanying the new engine will be the updated chassis, which should further contribute to weight reduction. The kerb weight of the currently sold DesertX is 223kg.

The test mule of the new DesertX was camouflaged, but one can clearly make out the overall stance, which is almost the same as the existing model, especially the front section, with its iconic twin-pod round headlamp. At the rear, however, Ducati seems to have tweaked the tail section to make it more compact, while the swingarm is also different. These changes may have been executed to make it lighter and more capable off-road. As for the engine performance, the ongoing bike’s Testastretta motor produces 108.6bhp and 92Nm, and these figures might be slightly different for the new model.
The next-generation Ducati DesertX is expected to be unveiled at this year’s EICMA show in the first week of November. This should be followed by its arrival in India in the first half of 2026.
