The maxi-scooter segment in the European markets has become competitive and interesting with the introduction of the Zontes 350 D. Despite boasting a fairly large engine displacement, this scooter is more focused on urban commuting than inter-city runs. So, what all does the package offer? Let us give you a quick lowdown.
Zontes 350 D design and features
The 350 D looks quite big and bold with a muscular front apron housing an aggressively designed split-type LED headlamp accompanied by air scoops underneath. Typical of a maxi-scooter, it gets a tall windscreen for efficient wind deflection and a long footrest provision for more comfort than conventional scooters. Further, the long rear section accommodates a single-piece, stepped seat which looks sizeable.
The feature list of the scooter is nearly as fancy as its styling. Interestingly, the windscreen is electronically adjustable while there’s a tyre pressure monitoring system and traction control too! Other features include keyless ignition, adjustable levers, two riding modes (eco and sport), and a large, colour TFT instrument cluster which comes with four different configurations. What’s more, the TFT screen is Bluetooth compatible and storage provisions include a lockable compartment at the front with two USB charging sockets, and an underseat area big enough to gobble up a full-face helmet.
Zontes 350 D engine and hardware
Propelling this maxi-scooter by Zontes is a 350cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out a healthy 36bhp and 38Nm of peak torque. This, along with its kerb weight of 156kg, facilitates the scooter with an impressive power-to-weight ratio. It rides on a 15-14-inch alloy wheel combination which is suspended by telescopic forks up front and dual springs at the rear. Stopping power comes from a single disc at both ends along with a dual-channel ABS system.
Zontes 350 D pricing and rivals
Zontes has priced the 350 D maxi-scooter at 4,787 Euros (Rs 4.22 lakh) in Spain where it will be available in two colour options – Black and White. Now, considering it was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo in Delhi, there are chances that Zontes might bring it to India, albeit with a premium price tag. If it comes to India, the 350 D will go up against the BMW C 400 GT.
