New Triumph Tiger 900 GT: Top 5 highlights

Triumph Motorcycles introduced its latest Tiger range in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 13,70,000 (ex-showroom India). The Indian market currently gets three variants of the Triumph Tiger 900 range – GT, Rally and Rally Pro. Here we list of the top five highlights of the Tiger 900 GT.

Variant and Features

Unlike the Rally edition, the new Tiger 900 GT is available in a single variant. The GT series, which replaces the road-focused XR range, features alloy wheels and a shorter suspension travel than the Tiger 900 Rally. The feature list on the GT comprises of seven-inch TFT display, all-LED lighting with DRL, mobile phone storage, USB charging, a five-way joystick as standard and heated grips. My Triumph connectivity system is available as an optional extra.

Design

The new Triumph Tiger 900 range uses a modular frame with bolt-on rear sub-frame and pillion hangers. The middleweight adventure touring series now features aggressive styling that includes re-designed smaller-scale bodywork. The road-biased Tiger 900 GT features 19-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch unit at the back. The Tiger 900 GT is available in three colours – Pure White, Sapphire Black and Korosi Red.

Engine

The new Tiger 900 series uses an updated engine that features higher displacement than the old version. The 888cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC motor is tuned to deliver 93.9bhp at 8,750rpm and 87Nm at 7,250rpm. The Tiger 900 GT features four riding modes – Rain, Road, Sport and Off-Road. The safety features include cornering ABS and traction control with IMU.

Hardware

The road-focussed Tiger 900 GT uses 45mm upside-down forks at the front and rear mono-shock – both sourced from Marzocchi – to handle the suspension duties. The front is adjustable for rebound and compression damping. The rear feature preload and rebound damping adjustability. Anchoring duties are handled by twin 320mm floating discs with Brembo Stylema 4 piston Monobloc callipers at the front and a single 255mm disc with a Brembo single piston sliding calliper at the back.

Price

The Triumph Tiger 900 GT is available in a single variant and it has been priced at Rs 13,70,000 (ex-showroom India). The motorcycle will rival the likes of BMWF 900 XR and the Ducati Multistrada 950.
