- Suzuki unveils its first BS6-compliant offering, the new Access 125

Suzuki Motorcycle India has hopped on the bandwagon of BS6 transition by unveiling its first BS6-compliant offering, the new Access 125. The scooter gets changes in its engine in accordance with the new emission regulations along with a number of added features.
The previous carbureted 124cc, air-cooled motor now features fuel-injection which has resulted a minor variation in its power figures. At 8.5bhp and 10Nm, the power has marginally gone up while the torque has seen a slight drop as compared to its BS4 counterpart. The company claims the new motor delivers performance in a smoother way, thereby aiding in a more optimum fuel consumption. For further enhancing the fuel efficiency, Suzuki has also introduced Eco Assist Illumination feature. It comprises of a green light on the instrument cluster which glows when the ‘riding patterns are compatible with fuel-efficient riding.’
In terms of features, the new Access 125 now comes equipped with LED headlamp in place of the previous conventional unit. It also gets an external fuel filler cap, USB DC charging socket (standard for special edition) and a voltage meter for indicating battery condition. Furthermore, the new model comes with a slightly longer seat for an added comfort. This is added by a larger floorboard and roomier underseat storage space. Besides all these changes, the new Access 125 remains unchanged in all other aspects.
Suzuki will announce the pricing of the BS6 Access 125 in January. Expect the new model to demand a premium of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 over the existing model which starts at Rs 58,323 (steel wheels with drum brake) and goes up to Rs 62,892 (SE disc brake).
