The KTM 390 Adventure X presents itself as the entry point in the KTM 390 ADV range at Rs. 2.83 lakh, ex-showroom. While competitively priced, it gets a good set of features and equipment that actually makes the deal quite sweet. For all that money, you get all-LED lights, TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, off-road ABS, and more.

The bike is powered by a 399cc, LC4c, liquid-cooled engine producing 45.3bhp at 8,500rpm and 39Nm at 6,500rpm. This motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Overall, the KTM 390 Adventure X comes across as a well-rounded package. However, if you are looking for other options around the same price ball park, here are some alternatives.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (Rs. 2.85 lakh)

The direct rival to the KTM 390 Adventure range is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This motorcycle has proven itself as a capable adventure bike. Its engine is punchy and enables the bike to sit at triple-digit speeds without breaking a sweat. The ride quality of the bike is one of its strong suits, and it is also quite adept at handling off-road trails. However, it does feel a bit top-heavy with a full tank of fuel. If you are considering the Himalayan, we suggest you spend that little extra to equip the bike with tubeless wire-spoke rims.
KTM 390 Duke (Rs. 3.13 lakh)

The KTM 390 Duke is a proper hooligan, aimed at those who want a thrilling street naked bike. For a few thousand rupees more than the KTM 390 Adventure X, the 390 Duke brings a lot to the table. Whether it is ride modes, traction control, or adjustable suspension, the 390 Duke offers a lot of value for money. Compared to the KTM 390 Adventure X, the 390 Duke won’t take you far off the beaten path, and the comfort levels won’t be on par either. That said, if you intend to stick to the tarmac most of the time, the KTM 390 Duke looks promising.
TVS Apache RR 310 (Rs. 2.75 lakh)

For those into faired motorcycles, the TVS Apache RR 310 is priced competitively. The bike received an update last year that brought more power and performance to the table while offering a laundry list of features. Whether it is cornering traction control, ABS, ride modes, cruise control, or the option to fit adjustable suspension at both ends, the Apache RR 310 is loaded and how! It also rides and handles beautifully, while being a beginner-friendly motorcycle as well.
TVS has also paid close attention to the quality, as well as fit and finish, and it shows. That said, the NVH, though better controlled than the previous iteration, remains the only real issue besides the slightly jerky throttle response in the first couple of gears.
