- Harley-Davidson to launch the Sportster S in India next
- Official announcement to take place by late-2021
- Powered by Harley’s new Revolution Max engine
Harley-Davidson has officially revealed that the next model to join its India line-up will be the new Sportster S. The motorcycle will make its India debut by the end of this year while its bookings are already open.
The motorcycle is the newest member of Harley’s Sportster family. One of its main highlights is that it is powered by the brand’s new 1,250cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree, V-twin engine that also does duty on the Pan America 1250 adventure motorcycle. We recently reviewed the Pan America and got our first taste of this motor that left us thoroughly impressed. In the Sportster, it churns out 119.3bhp of maximum power and 127.4Nm of peak torque.
The Sportster S is also a big step up from most other Harleys in terms of electronics. The package comprises five riding modes (three preset and two customisable), cornering ABS, and lean-sensitive traction control. Furthermore, there’s a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster and a full-LED lighting system as well.
Even on the styling front, the Sportster S stands out with a distinctive combination of flat-tracker and cruiser stance. Some of the most attention-seeking elements include a small oblong-shaped headlamp, a pair of massive high-mounted exhausts, and a tiny tail holding a single-piece seat and showing off its bulbous tyres. The Sportster also gets upmarket components like Showa fully adjustable suspension and Brembo brakes.
Although details about the pricing of the Sportster S are now known yet, it will mostly cost lesser than the Pan America 1250 that starts at Rs 16.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
