- New R1300R to make global debut on 10 April
- Replaces the aging R1250R
- Gets new 1300cc engine from R1300GS
BMW Motorrad is planning to unveil yet another motorcycle this month. Just a few days ago it unveiled the R12 GS and in three days it will unveil the new R1300R.
The company has released a teaser on its official YouTube channel showing the unveiling date and time. From the picture, it is clear that the new R1300R will look similar to the R1250R – at least at the front and back. In between, there will be some changes as the bike will now be powered by the new 1300cc boxer-twin that makes 145bhp and an insane amount of torque. In fact, due to this new engine, the centre area of the R1300R is likely to look much leaner than the outgoing model due to its compact design.
To accommodate this new engine, the R1300R is likely to get a revised chassis, which means the overall kerb weight of the motorcycle could drastically change. The other cycle parts, like the suspension, wheels, and instrumentation, could be brand new. There will be multiple variants of the new R1300R, but expect things like electronic suspension and blindspot detection system to come in top-end variants only.
This new BMW R1300R will first be launched in European and US markets, followed by a launch in a few other Asian countries. India launch is likely to take place during the festive season but at a price point that will make it very expensive.
