- Bags maiden MotoGP win
- Fabio Quartararo finishes second
- Pecco Bagnaia crosses the line in third
The 2025 MotoGP Grand Prix of Spain turned out to be an absolute classic with plenty of action. Alex Marquez bagged his first MotoGP victory, and it was a great sight to see Fabio Quartararo back on the podium after years.

Drama-filled Opening Laps
As soon as the race began, pole-sitter Fabio Quartataro on the Monster Energy Yamaha M1 made a great start to keep the fast charging Ducatis at bay in the first set of corners. It was great to see the 2021 MotoGP World Champion lead the race after what seemed like an eternity.

Behind Quartararo, Pecco Bagania and Marc Marquez were engaged in a classic duel, trading places and even coming in contact on one occasion. The pace, meanwhile, was hotting up as Fabio managed to keep Baganaia and Marc Marquez at bay. Then, on Lap 3, disaster struck as Marc Marquez crashed and lost any chance of being on the podium.

Alex Marquez is a MotoGP Race Winner
While his elder brother, Marc, crashed out of the race, Alex Marquez, on the Gresini Ducati, was charging up the field. After passing Baganaia, Alex Marquez hunted down Fabio and made a daring move on the inside, while entering Turn One. Fabio was forced to go wide, and Alex made the move stick, much to the delight of the home crowd. From then on, there was no looking back, as Alex pulled a sizable gap between himself and Fabio for the remainder of the race.

As the chequered flag waved, Alex Marquez was all emotional as he bagged his first MotoGP victory. He’s been in top form this season and had only lost out to the phenomenal Marc Marquez so far in 2025.

The Podium

Fabio Quartararo finished second in the race and was quite elated to finally step on the podium after a long time. His Yamaha has been struggling to keep pace with the super-fast Ducatis. However, his skill and determination, along with steady improvements to his bike enabled him to clinch P2. Pecco Bagnaia, meanwhile, settled for third.

The next round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship will be held from 9 May - 11 May at Le Mans in France.
