MotoGP 2024: Ducati's Pecco Bagnaia wins the Indonesian GP Sprint

    - Jorge Martin crashes on the first lap

    -Enea Bastianini finishes second

    -Marc Marquez finishes in third

The 2024 Indonesian Grand Prix Sprint served yet another twist in this year’s World Championship. Pecco Bagnaia, riding for the Ducati Lenovo Factory team won the race, but it was a sweet gift from Championship leader Jorge Martin.

    Pecco reigns supreme

Pecco Bagnaia started the weekend on a careful note as he built pace gradually. As the lights went out, he made a terrific start and slotted behind Pole man Jorge Martin on the Prima Pramac Ducati. The duo stretched their lead as the first lap progressed.

And then, out of nowhere, Jorge Martin crashed as he lost the front. The Spaniard had no explanation for why he crashed but the good thing was that at least he could remount the Ducati and chase the whole pack who’d overtaken him by then.

Pecco seized the opportunity and managed to stick to the front of the field for the remainder of the Sprint. He did come under pressure from Marco Bezzecchi who closed in on him in the middle of the race and almost ran into him at one of the hard braking zones.

Meanwhile, Enea Bastianini overtook the rest of the field to slot behind Pecco in second. He had come within striking distance but by then the chequered flag had come out.

Pecco has sliced Martin’s Championship lead in half and will be hoping to replicate this performance in the main race.

    Mega Marquez!

Marc Marquez on the GP23 Gresini Racing Ducati put up yet another stunning race as he rose from P12 to P3. The Spaniard has bee proving to the world why he’s one of the finest riders out there with his performance. Marquez was under pressure from Acosta on the GasGas Tech 3 bike and even from Bastianini. However, he held his nerve and bagged another podium of the season.
