- Price increased to Rs. 2.32 lakh this month
- OBD-2B compliant now
KTM India increased the price of the RC 200 earlier this month in India. The motorcycle has become dearer by Rs. 11,000. While it retailed for Rs. 2.21 lakh until last month, the price has gone up to Rs. 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom) now. One of the reasons for the hike is the engine update for OBD-2B compliance, but the margin of increment is too high for that. There could be other reasons as well, and an official clarification on the same is awaited.

In other news, the demand for the entire RC series has dropped over the last few months in some regions of India. Dealers have been getting fewer enquiries for the RC models since last year’s festive season. We believe prospective buyers are waiting for the next-generation RC models. The 390cc iteration of the RC was last spotted almost a year back, and it seemed to have a host of changes over the existing model. Its official debut might take place at the EICMA Show in November this year, soon followed by the India launch.
The RC 200 is underpinned by a steel trellis frame that is suspended by a non-adjustable WP Apex suspension setup. Braking is handled by a 320-230mm disc brake combination with dual-channel ABS. Powering the bike is a rev-happy 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 24.6bhp and 19.2Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. It weighs just 160kg (kerb) and the fuel tank capacity is 13.7 litres.
