- Pierer Mobility renamed to Bajaj Mobility AG
- Bajaj Auto holds 74.9 per cent stake in KTM AG
KTM’s parent company has officially entered a new chapter as Pierer Mobility AG has been renamed to Bajaj Mobility AG. The development comes shortly after Bajaj Auto completed its acquisition of KTM late last year.
The renaming doesn’t come as a surprise, as KTM was grappling with major losses and was on the brink of bankruptcy before Bajaj acquired a majority stake in the Austrian bike maker. As part of the restructuring process, KTM has downsized its workforce by around 500 employees. The company stated that reducing fixed costs, streamlining internal structures, and optimising its international leadership network were essential steps to stabilise the company. As of 31 December, 2025, KTM AG employs 3,794 people, after the recent job cuts.
KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister said the job cuts were “a difficult but necessary decision” aimed at simplifying the organisation. KTM has revealed that it is reducing the complexity across all aspects of the business and has even removed an entire management layer to improve efficiency.
Neumeister has further confirmed that KTM will focus on its three core motorcycle brands: KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas. In line with its cost-cutting measures, KTM has already exited multiple businesses. The bicycle brand Felt was sold to a consortium in November 2025, while the X-Bow car project has also been discontinued. KTM has also ended its partnership with MV Agusta and stopped handling CFMoto’s European distribution.
Under the stewardship of Bajaj Mobility AG, KTM aims to strengthen its position in global markets, regain financial stability, and streamline operations with reduced complexity and a clearer focus on core products. That said, only time will tell how this new phase pans out for KTM under the Bajaj umbrella.
