- New 390 SMC R launch by June
- Will create a new segment in India
- Will be priced around Rs. 3.5 lakh
KTM India is having an aggressive start to 2025. After launching the new 390 Adventure range, the company will launch the 390 Enduro R. It also plans to expand its 390cc line-up with the launch of the 390 SMC R in India.
The company is planning to launch the 390 SMC R in the country between April and June. Although the 390 SMC R will create a new segment and bring more customers to the brand, the company wants to ensure there’s enough space between new bike launches.
The KTM 390 SMC R is built on the same 390 Duke platform but is far lighter and fun around the corners. Its styling inspiration has been the 690 SMC R, which unfortunately was never launched in India.
This KTM weighs almost 11kg less than the 390 Duke at 154kg. It has a compact 9-litre fuel tank and a seamlessly integrated single-piece seat. However, the rest of the parts like the handlebar, mirrors, and lights have been borrowed from its naked sibling. The Austrian brand has equipped this KTM with WP USD forks at the front, offering an impressive 230mm of travel.
Interestingly, this suspension is fully adjustable for compression and rebound. The rear mono suspension can be adjusted for preload and rebound. The brakes are shared with the 390 Duke, offering fantastic bite and power.
The 390 SMC R rides on 17-inch wheels on both ends and each of these wheels gets Michelin Power 6 tyres. Being a supermoto, it features switchable ABS at the back. Similar to the 390 Duke, this motorcycle also gets a 4.2-inch TFT colour instrument cluster. Three riding modes can be selected on this cluster through the multi-switchgear.
In terms of pricing, the new 390 SMC R is likely to be priced between Rs. 3.5 lakh and Rs. 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom).
