- Comes with three years of standard warranty
- Extended warranty period is seven years
- Warranty covers engine and gearbox components
Kawasaki has been leaving no stone unturned in its quest to make the KLX 230 accessible to the masses. After dropping its price tag by Rs. 1.30 lakh in August, the company has now introduced a seven-year extended warranty for the motorcycle at just Rs. 2,499.
The KLX 230 comes with a 3-year standard warranty. If the buyer opts for the extended warranty, the total period of coverage is 10 years. We believe it’s actually an attractive proposition considering the peace of mind the total warranty brings along in regards with the ownership of the motorcycle. The extended warranty covers engine parts and gearbox components. This comes in after Kawasaki shifting the manufacturing base of the KLX 230 to India in August this year, which brought its price down significantly. And with the recent reduction in GST, it has become even more affordable at Rs. 1.84 lakh, ex-showroom.

As a product, the Kawasaki KLX 230 is a great tool for riders who want to get into off-roading but don’t intend to use the bike much elsewhere. That said, we had also learnt in our test that it can be used for commuting as well, but things like a small fuel tank and a really narrow seat pose an issue at times. With a kerb weight of just 139kg and a 233cc, air-cooled engine with strong low-end torque, it’s a fun and accessible motorcycle to ride off-road. Adding to its off-road credentials are long-travel suspension, 21-18-inch spoke wheels, and a high ground clearance of 255mm.
