- Should help reduce weight
- Performance may be altered slightly
- Should go on sale later this year
The Jawa 42 FJ has been on sale for a few months, but recently, the bike has been spotted testing with a major change. The test mule seen in the images has a single-sided exhaust instead of the dual exhausts on the current bike. This change should have a notable effect on the way the motorcycle behaves.
Deleting one exhaust should, firstly help reduce weight by a few kilos. This should help improve the bike’s power-to-weight ratio. It may also have an impact on the way the bike performs as well as handles around corners.
In its current state, the Jawa 42 FJ is powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 28.7bhp and 29.62Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and has a slip-and-assist clutch.
Another change that we can expect with the 42 FJ that has a single-sided exhaust is the introduction of new colours or graphics to help distinguish the bike. The design of the bike, meanwhile, appears to be the same. From the round LED headlight to the tear drop-shaped fuel tank and the curved fenders. The bike looks properly modern-retro.
It is unclear if Jawa is going to position this bike as a lower-spec 42 FJ. It could perhaps get a fewer set of features and a lower price tag as well. For reference, the current Jawa 42 FJ is priced at Rs. 2 lakh, ex-showroom.
