Honda registers Transalp brand in USA; smaller Africa Twin in the making?

- Transalp brand registered in USA

- Could be a middle-weight ADV

Honda has just filled a trademark to register the Transalp name in USA. This makes us believe that the company is planning to launch a smaller version of the Africa Twin.

Currently, Honda doesn’t have any middleweight-ADV and right now, that is one of the hottest segments. A lot of brands like KTM, Yamaha and BMW have made their presence felt in this highly profitable segment. So it was obvious that Honda will eventually get there as they have a really good off-road pedigree.

According to some rumours, this Transalp brand could become Honda’s middleweight adventure brand. This motorcycle might get its engine from NS750 – a parallel-twin motor with good amount of power and torque. The brand could also bring in a DCT version.

We are expecting this bike to make its presence felt, atleast in a concept avatar later this year. A market like India would love to have such bike in the country, and now with Honda’s premium showroom in place, it makes perfect sense to launch such middle-weight ADVs in India.
