Honda has patented the PCX160 maxi-scooter in India, signaling the possibility of its launch in the country. If launched in India, the Honda PCX160 will rival the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160.

Honda has patented quite a few scooters in India in the past, and those haven’t seen the light of day. So, this patent filing doesn’t guarantee its launch in India. That said, the 160cc performance scooter segment is growing in the country, and the PCX160 could make for a great alternative for the growing needs of Indian consumers.
The Honda PCX160 is quite a popular maxi-scooter in some Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines. It is powered by a 157cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 16bhp and 14.7Nm of peak torque. On paper, the PCX160 is more powerful than the Aerox 155 and the Xoom 160. But, when you factor in its kerb weight of 131kg, the Aerox 155 (126kg) is quicker than the rest.

The Honda PCX160 is underpinned by an underbone chassis, suspended by telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the back. The maxi-scooter rides on a 14-inch front wheel and a 13-inch rear wheel. Meanwhile, the braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends.
Do you think Honda should launch the PCX160 in India?
