- Patent design filed in India
- Unlikely to be launched here
- Powered by a 125cc engine
Honda has patented the design for a new 125cc scooter in India. This is the NWX 125 and is sold in select international markets only. The brand has now filed a design patent for the same, which has been leaked online.
The Honda NWX 125 is a sporty, youthful-looking scooter with sharp cuts and creases and angular bodywork. It has an apron-mounted LED headlight and looks quite muscular. That said, Honda already has a few 125cc scooters on sale in India, including the Activa and the Dio 125.
Powering the Honda NWX 125 is a 124cc single-cylinder engine that makes 9.3bhp and 10Nm. For reference, the Honda Dio 125 and the Activa 125 make 8.16bhp and 8.19bhp, respectively. Both scooters get a CVT setup. It gets an LCD setup with all the necessary readouts including the speedometer, odometer, tripmeter, and more. The Japanese scooter also uses keyless operation like the H-Smart feature that we see on its Indian siblings.
The Honda NWX also uses simple hardware including telescopic front forks and a monoshock while the braking is done by the front disc and rear drum brake.
Although Honda has patented the NWX 125’s design in India, it is unlikely to launch it here. The patent documentation is likely done to reserve the design in the country.
