- Based on the Activa 125
- Boasts a sportier design
- India launch uncertain
Honda has patented the design of its sporty 125cc scooter, the NPF 125, in India. It is on sale in select markets like China and shares its platform with the Activa 125 and Dio 125.

The NPF 125 is a sporty-looking scooter with an aggressive stance comprising angular design lines all over. The front apron houses a split-type LED headlamp with the turn indicators positioned slightly lower. Similarly, the rear section looks sharp and the chunky grab rail adds to the visual mass of the scooter. It’s quite simple on the feature front with bits like LED lighting, an LCD instrument cluster, keyless ignition, and a USB charger. Plus, there are two cubby holes at the front for stowing away your small belongings.

Powering the scooter is the same 124cc, air-cooled motor which does duty on the Activa 125 and Dio 125. However, at 9.39bhp and 10Nm, the power and torque figures are slightly different for the NPF perhaps due to the difference in emission-related constraints. On the hardware front, the NPF incorporates a 12-10-inch wheel setup that is suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a disc-drum combination with ABS.
Now, Honda patenting the NPF 125 in India doesn’t necessarily mean the scooter will be launched on our shores. The Japanese brand has patented many international models in India in the past mainly to protect the name and the design in our country. With two 125cc scooters already in its line-up, it makes more sense for the brand to launch bigger scooters in India such as the ADV 150 which will make Honda’s portfolio more exciting.
