- Gets E-Clutch technology
- Powered by a 649cc, inline-four engine
The Honda CB650R E-Clutch has been launched in India at Rs. 9.60 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes it Rs. 40,000 dearer than the standard CB650R. As the name suggests, the bike benefits from Honda’s E-Clutch technology, which takes away some of the street/fatigue of shifting gears while commuting.
The system comprises servo motors bolted onto the new casing, and these help in the shifting process. The same pair of servo motors also pulls the clutch when the motorcycle is stationary. For the purists, however, there’s the option to disengage the system and gain manual control of the gearbox.
The rest of the bike is the same as the standard motorcycle. The CB650R is powered by a 649cc, inline-four cylinder engine that makes 94bhp and 62.3Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The bike is designed in the typical Honda Neo-retro style. There’s an oval-shaped LED headlight, muscular fuel tank, and an upswept tail section. Adding to the visuals are the four exhaust pipe headers that flow into the end can.
Under the bodywork is a steel frame that is suspended by a USD fork and monoshock. Braking, meanwhile, is taken care of by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear.
Bookings are now open and deliveries will begin soon.
