- Will also develop and sell premium bikes under Harley name
Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson have inked a new deal for the Indian market. Hero MotoCorp has become the official distributor for the American brand in India.
According to this new distribution agreement, Hero MotoCorp will sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It will also sell parts & accessories and merchandise riding gear and apparel through Harley-Davidson dealers and Hero’s existing dealership network in India.
Interestingly, there’s another licensing agreement that have been inked as well. Through this, Hero MotoCorp will develop and sell a range of premium bikes under the Harley-Davidson name. It is still not sure if this is some sort of technology transfer or Hero just plans to launch some of its premium bikes under Harley’s name. Both are possible. But we expect to have more details of this in the coming months.
This announcement as brought big relief to the existing Harley-Davidson owners who were left in a lurch after the company decided to exit India.
