Hero MotoCorp has commenced its retail operations and re-opened more than 1,500 customer touch-points including authorized dealerships and service centres in India. The company also announced in its press statement that 10,000 units of motorcycles and scooters have been sold since the reopening of these customer touch-points.
Hero MotoCorp commenced the vehicle dispatches from its manufacturing facilities on 7 May 2020. The company resumed operations at its manufacturing plants at Dharuhera and Gurgaon in Haryana and Haridwar in Uttarakhand on 4 May 2020.
The two-wheeler manufacturer aims to offer utmost safety through various steps mentioned in its Restart Manual. Besides English and Hindi, the Restart Manual is also available in 10 regional languages. The manuals guide on –
- Deep cleaning
- Fumigation
- Safety marking of the channel point
- Rearrangements at the channel point to ensure social distancing
- Seating, washroom, work-station, equipment hygiene
- Staggered break times, staff/ customer entry protocols, use of PPEs
- Encouraging digital payments, careful handling of documents/credit cards/cash
- Staff training, entry protocols, social distancing, customer entry protocols
- Use of PPEs such as masks, gloves
Apart from the aforementioned points, the manuals also cover various other aspects to ensure customer safety. It includes Pre-delivery inspection (PDI), delivery norms, home delivery, pre-booking to avoid customer rush, social distancing in workshop, hygiene and care of tools, vehicle pick-up and drop and creation of waiting areas.
