Hero Maestro Edge 125- What to expect?

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 is scheduled to launch in India on 13 May. With just a couple of days left, we tell you what to expect from the upcoming scooter from Hero Motocorp.

Styling

The Hero Maestro Edge 125 has a sharp styling with definitive lines and creases on its bodywork. This design has been directly borrowed from its smaller sibling, the Maestro Edge 110. Sporting blacked out components instead of the chrome like its counterpart, the Destini 125, the Maestro Edge 125 is expected to be positioned as a sporty offering.

Features

One of the most significant feature on the Maestro Edge 125 is the i3s (intelligent start-stop system) technology. The system cuts power to the engine if the scooter is left idle for a set amount of time (around 6 seconds). The rider can just twist the throttle to start the engine again hence conserving fuel, especially at traffic signals. For added convenience, the Maestro Edge 125’s i3S tech can also be switched off completely.

The instrument cluster on the Maestro Edge 125 is a semi-digital and displays an analogue speedometer along with a digital unit which shows odometer, trip meter and fuel gauge.

Engine

Powering the Hero Maestro Edge 125 is a 124cc motor that comes mated to a variomatic gearbox. This motor generates 8.7bhp at 6750rpm and 10.2Nm at 5000rpm.

Suspension and Braking

The scooter rides on a 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wrapped in tubeless tyres. Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic front forks and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile the Maestro Edge 125 gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear along with Hero’s version of the CBS (combined braking system) known as IBS or integrated braking system.

Price

We expect Hero to price the Maestro Edge 125 at a slight premium of around Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 over the Destini 125 which costs Rs 57,930 (ex-showroom) for the top-spec variant. In terms of rivals, the Maestro Edge will compete against the Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access in the country.
